The EU has offered China the option of a voluntary price commitment as an alternative to high tariffs on electric vehicles. The Commission's guidance allows Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers to demonstrate that their prices are not unfairly subsidized. If they fail to do so, they face the imposition of higher tariffs. The aim is to protect fair competition in the European market. The Commission has also published a template for submitting data.
