Electromobility in heavy duty and public transport is slower to take off than passenger transport. However, the first electric buses, vans and trucks are already on the road. In Slovakia too, some courier and freight forwarding companies are already switching to battery-powered vehicles.
In addition to the acquisition of the vehicle, it is necessary to think about the charging infrastructure. In the next few years, depot-to-depot transport has the greatest potential, so charging stations will be built mainly in logistics centres and near warehouses. A public network of fast charging stations will be supported by the European Expand-E project and charging stations will be added to roads belonging to the TEN-T network of international corridors.
