Zero CEE 2035 is a collaborative initiative that invites the support of V4 countries to achieve zero emissions in the road transport sector by 2035. The project aims to develop strategic framework and implementation plans, focusing on developing infrastructure for e-mobility, promoting innovation and legislative measures.
The European Union’s amendment of the Regulation stipulating the CO₂ emission standards for new passenger cars and vans is a significant step towards a sustainable future. This decision, which mandates a 100% cut in CO₂ emissions by 2035, will not only reduce environmental impact but also pave the way for a future of road transportation without CO₂ tail-pipe emissions. It’s a promising signal for a cleaner, greener future.
Unfortunately, as with all great technological evolutions through human history, the inevitable switch from ICE to zero-emission electric vehicles will be disruptive, producing winners and losers. Therefore, rather than wasting any further time and resources on a technology destined to become niche and obsolete, the twin megatrends of digitalization and electrification in road transportation should be fully embraced. The urgency of this transition cannot be overstated. It’s time to strategically prioritize these trends and benefit from the full suite of opportunities they offer, inspiring us to lead the way in the future of transportation.
The aim of the project is to help map out holistic and adaptive economic strategies that prepare each V4 country for the 2035 transformation. In doing so, the project will provide analysis of trends and facilitate a collaborative dialogue among key stakeholders about expectations for the future of the global automotive industry and the wider electrification of road transportation over the next ten years.
