The European electric vehicle market has entered a more mature phase. In 2025, BEV sales grew by 28%, the number of public charging points by 19%, and total charging capacity by as much as 36%. Charging capacity is becoming more important than the number of stations. More than 1.2 million public charging points are already in operation in Europe. The network has grown fivefold since 2020, with Denmark and Belgium increasing their number of charging points by more than 1,100%. The biggest obstacle to further charging development is no longer cars, but grid capacity. The gridX analysis therefore highlights battery storage, dynamic power management, and peak shaving as key tools for the faster deployment of high-power chargers. gridx.ai 🇬🇧
