In December 2023, sales of new battery electric vehicles in the EU recorded their first decline since April 2020 (-16.9% to 160,700 vehicles). This is mainly related to the significant decline in Germany, where the subsidy programme has ended. Overall, sales in 2023 will exceed 1.5 million units, an increase of 37% compared to 2022.
